Tzedakah
Tzedakah: Doing what is
Right
This is one of the mitzvot that we most strongly emphasize
throughout the child's school experience. Every class collects
Tzedakah money each time school is in session. In addition, each
grade level picks a Tzedakah project just for those students. Current
project include: Decorating tins of home baked goodies delivered to
"shut-ins' by The Visiting Nurses Association; collecting winter
hats and mittens for distribution to the Fair Haven Health Clinic;
collecting used videotapes to be donated to the Yale Children's
Hospital; students volunteering to prepare and serve meals at the
Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen. As well, on a school wide level, we
collect winter clothing for the New Haven projects, summer clothing
for our sister city in Nicaragua, and food for the Jewish Family
Service food pantry at Yom Kippur and Passover.
